So, I had a busy and productive day and the dining room is making strides, just some last where-does-this-go-now things left, really, and I had time to dust some areas.
The living room no longer has chairs stacked in it.
I tidied up my cupboards and pulled out the things I would need for the next few days easily accessible.
I did a couple more of those emails that had been hanging fire – does anyone else use that term other than me? – and got through a lot of those that aren’t pressing but just build up so quickly – blog entries and all the sale reminders and recipes and message notifications – at least in my mailbox.
I seeded two pomegranates, which does not sound like a lot unless you have seeded pomegranates.
I polished a silver ice bucket that I had bought at a yard sale, which hadn’t ...Read More
I got some things done and I feel much less overwhelmed.
The dining room is taking shape. We, meaning slave drew, put up a shelf piece and we did the window treatment we’d planned – I have a window that looks into an added-on garage, and the view was not lovely.
We figured out some of the lighting, which took longer than you might think because it also involved drilling holes in the cabinet itself to reach the outlet.
I found my crock pot meaning, oops, I had to find a place for my crock pot. I did, however.
I got to the grocery and mostly figured out what I’m doing and when and where and what I need for it.
I got my nails done. In honor of the James Bond movies drew and I have watched lately, the color I picked is, “The Spy Who Loved Me.”
Bright kind of cherry red, with a bit of gli...Read More
So, I have a list of approximately 1000 things to do.
I have to finish up the dining room, though progress has been made. But there’s a window covering to do, a wall shelf to hang, the living room to empty out, and then the kitchen, and then the cleaning of aforesaid locations.
There’s stuff I need to do for the upcoming Fringe Element Bizarre Bazaar, and for my own Bluegrass Leather Pride.
There’s a Leather Presentation I need to write.
I have to refill my ink on my printer.
I have some business of life stuff, things to mail, things to pay, things to buy.
slave drew’s birthday is Wednesday, Thanksgiving is Thursday and then it’s the holiday weekend.
I made a list of the things I have to do and haven’t done them, but making a list was kind of on the list.
I need to get my nails done.
I n...Read More
So, we had the Special Interest Group this afternoon. This is our sort of annual business meeting.
In November, we talk about potential changes for the next year and set our topics.
In December, we have a fun topic, but this time we’re going to do a Kinky Gift Exchange.
It’s a game you may well have played at an office party or family gathering. You bring a wrapped present, in this case something under $10. If there are 20 people there, you write the numbers one through 20 on pieces of paper, and each person chooses a number.
The person who draws number 1 picks a package and opens it. Person 2 then has a choice to take the item that Person 1 has, or open a different package.
If he takes one of the previously opened gifts, then the person whose gift has been “stolen,” can choose to ...Read More
I never type that without hearing the kid’s rhyme, “Home again, home again, higgelty pig.”
My ex, Beth, and I used to disagree over the wording, she’d learned it as “diggity dog,” but it was clearly “higgelty pig.”
It was not as pretty a drive back as it was down, though it wasn’t bad. It was very windy for the first 60 miles or so, or about the first third of it.
The leaves were whipping around the highway, that last sort of rattle of Autumn saying, “No, really, I’m serious, he’s RIGHT behind me.”
It was still warm, but it didn’t look so much like fall anymore, it looked a lot more like winter.
About 30 miles from drew’s house, I saw a bald eagle snag a bird in mid-air about 20 feet in front of me.
It was certainly swooping low enough to clearly see it wasn’t a hawk...Read More
I am at the moment sitting in slave drew’s living room.
For those of you in the know, it might matter that I’m typing on a Paul McCobb dining room table, sitting on one of four of his “shovel” chairs, and facing a buffet piece with two jewelry chests on top of it, all also done by the same Danish modern designer.
drew’s house is as eclectic as he himself is. It has a lot of art made by prisoners scattered around.
He curated an art show ten years or so back of art produced by prisoners in Kentucky prisons, and that lead to a couple other pieces, as well as the stuff he bought or was given by prisoners.
On one wall is a leather nature scene by a guy who killed three members of a rival biker gang, with one of the motives being the theft of a motorcycle jack with on of the victim’s club colors...Read More
I am at slave drew’s house this weekend, in Western Kentucky, in the Land Between the Lakes area – between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley.
Both lakes are man-made. Back in the early 1960’s, the old town of Kuttawa was flooded to form the lakes.
Think “Brother, Where Art Thou.”
Somewhere at the bottom of the lake, the old buildings are, or whatever is left of them, anyway.
We went out to dinner and by the time we finished at 7pm local time, the restaurant was emptying out, the rush over.
People eat early down here.
Tomorrow, we’ll go to Amish country, about 45 minutes away.
I suspect I’ll have a more enlightening blog tomorrow, but tonight, I believe, we are going to settle in and watch Goldfinger, then it’s likely to be early to bed.
Have a lovely weekend.Read More
I am suspicious of extravagant flattery. Tell me on first meeting that I am the most amazing and beautiful and sexy woman you have ever met and you will likely notice my eyes narrowing and the set of my mouth becoming tighter. I am thinking, if your standards are so low, and pretty words fall so easily from your lips, then how can I trust what you tell me about anything else?
Having said that, let me also add that, like most humans, I do like and appreciate compliments. I was thinking about them this afternoon while weeding my garden. I don’t know if there’s some connection there or not, but it was when it occurred.
The compliments that have meant the most to me were based on knowledge of me. The ones that matter to me, too, were based on knowing myself, as well...Read More
I have spent my day confirming the various schedule for GLLA.
One of the projects I work on all year is GLLA. The GLLA Mission Statement, from the website, is:
The mission of the Great Lakes Leather Alliance is to build bridges between the Leather, BDSM, D/s, M/s, fetish, and alternative sexual lifestyle communities.
The Great Lakes Leather Alliance hopes to promote education and enhance communication between each of these groups, and it seeks to promote the success and welfare of the individuals and organizations within our combined community. We especially want to protect against threats to our freedom of expression.
We will not discriminate based on age, sexual preference, gender, race, or any other diversity...Read More
I do monthly classes here in Louisville, on “BDSM Basics.” I had one a couple of weeks ago on safety. We talked about both the kind of safety as in, how and where you can strike people safely, but we also talked about some other aspects of safety, which for me boil down to behaving rationally, knowing the people you play with.
The thing that struck me, though, was an email I had gotten from someone who had signed up for the class. I send out a reminder because anyone who wants to attend needs to get pre-registered, so I know who’s coming and they know where to go.
So I sent an email to one guy who had signed up for the class. He’s pretty new in terms of the community, six or eight months, I think, and considers himself a Top.
In other words, one might think he’s precisely the perso...Read More
