Ok, so it’s a cheap shot. Neither slave drew nor I had to get up especially early this morning so we were lying in bed chatting.
I’d had an odd dream – I’ve had a string of them lately, nothing bad, just one of those odd ones, and I told him about it, and then commented that we were still here, so there was, at least thus far, no apocalypse, and I told him that the title of my blog yesterday was “Apocalypse Now?”

Were the Mayans right?
It seems like if they were so fucking smart, they’d not have been so welcoming to the Spaniards, but I’m a cynic.
So, is tomorrow the end of the world?
I doubt it. Highly. And if it is the end of the world, clearly, I can do nothing about it.
Robert Frost said this, in Fire and Ice, about the end of the world:
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
